The Betrayal: 1.30

There you have it. The LAST page of CHAPTER 1. I feel a tremendous sense of accomplishment, reworking all the old pages into the new style. I think it has improved dramatically, and added a lot more to the whole of the story. It ‘feels’ grittier and darker now. That was the intent from the beginning.

Chapter 2 will feature more of these panel revisions as we go, but they wont be as drastic as the ones found in Chapter 1. The art style started to ‘level off’ and look a lot more like the presentation I was hoping for. Near the end of Chapter 3, I had solidified it and locked in the workflow process – hence the redux to date.

For those of you who have stuck it out with me since the start, thanks again for the support – your encouragement on the redone pages has helped tremendously by keeping me motivated to continue throughout. For those of you just joining in, this may not make a lick of sense to you, but trust me, it was for your benefit that this change was made in the first place. I hope you’ve enjoyed this noir webcomic so far.

In the next few days, I will let you know if there will be a hiatus prior to Chapter 2. (I don’t think there will be since my motivation is at an all time high right now, so I’m just going to keep my nose to the grindstone and crank out more work for you, rather than taking a vacation in the middle of the run.) If we start back up business as usual, expect to see the same number of updates (3 a week) with the exception of the title card for Chapter 2. That will probably run on an off day so it doesn’t interfere with the regular posting schedule.

On to Chapter 2! Thanks for reading so far! Share the love on this Valentine’s Day.

EDIT: No hiatus necessary. I’ll be continuing on into Chapter 2, as I’ve built up a bit of a buffer to carry me through my off-days. Enjoi!

The Betrayal: 1.29

One more for the road – easier said than done. As we venture into the second chapter, you’ll see that El Cuervo is really going to regret his words soon enough.

Depending on how much work I get done during the weekend, I may not need that 2 week break – but I will be away for a few days, and that could bite into my scheduled time. I will keep you all posted on Monday.

The Betrayal: 1.28

L’oiseaux is just an old hotel where El Cuervo is holed up. I wanted it to have that old English boutique hotel sort of look, so I gave it the tall pillars and narrow doors. But you can see the interior is pretty contemporary and generic as most chain hotels that take over these old buildings tend to be.

Another locale in The Met, all part of the El Cuervo universe. I really need to get to that city map.
